Founder Keely Paice came up with the concept for Babyplanners after the birth of her first child in 2003. As a business journalist making regular trips overseas, she found the process of preparing for birth exhausting. Despite being an experienced researcher, it was still difficult to make sensible decisions as to what she needed and how to approach life with a newborn.
She says: “It occured to me that pregnancy must have a real impact on businesses with expectant and new parents distracted and overwhelmed by this life-change. If there was a way of providing support to these employees, companies would gain increased loyalty and productivity. The idea for Babyplanners Business was born.”
Keely’s partner Donnathea Campbell, also a mother of two, joined the company in 2007. As a marketing director running large teams during both pregnancies, Donnathea has experienced at first-hand the difficulties of advancing a career while looking after a young family and sees the difference progressive policies could make.
She says: “Provided I didn’t mention the obvious fact I was pregnant, all was fine. No concessions were made and in business, that is fair enough, but it would have made all the difference if I could have had some advice on how to cope with a stressful job and the upheaval of having a baby.”
Babyplanners also has a panel of key advisors including David Carman, an experienced international executive who has been President and CEO of a number of world-class companies and works with a selection of younger, growing businesses. He has joined us in that capacity.
The team also includes Amanda Scope, an accomplished designer who will tailor the look and feel of Babyplanners for your company and our IT specialists The Right Design, who will ensure your staff have ongoing access to their own personal area of babyplanners.co.uk.
