First-Time Moms = Hot Niche Market

28 November 2006

Baby planning is the perfect solution for the "mum-to-be with no time free" according to the website of a new aptly named London-based company, Babyplanners . Spotted by trendwatchers in London , the company says it’s a service designed for women expecting their first baby. Through individual sessions at home or at the office, Babyplanners role is to take care of the organizational aspects of having a baby--from selecting the right stroller and car seat to finding Lamaze classes and maternity nurses.

In the first session, Babyplanners starts off with an assessment and starter "babyplan." For this, the company charges a flat fee of £100 (about $132), which can be off-set against full service. From there, the expectant mother can select one of three packages for continued help from Babyplanners: The Good, The Great and The Amazing. The latter two plans include individual sessions and a 24-hour contact should moms-to-be have any questions. The costs of those packages is calculated according to each mom's specific needs.

This could be one of the next best un-tapped niche markets out there. With so many households having two working parents, and the countless options and worries parents have regarding their children, expectant parents will probably be quite willing to spend a little extra money to save time and sanity as they prepare for the arrival of their little one.
